Hohwacht Bay and Lake Selent are very well suited for all kinds of watersports – so grab snorkel and fins and discover the amazing and fascinating underwater world of the Baltic and inland lakes. 

There are sailing schools in Hohwacht and on Sehlendorf beach which are sure to excite watersports fans.  As well as booking sailing, surfing and diving courses, you can also hire boats, surfboards, diving equipment and even catamarans there.  To make sure you have a pleasant trip, it is worthwhile consulting the 

local Information Office for windsurfers

Hohwacht:

suitable wind direction: west and north west
beach: sandy beach (signposted beach for swimming in summer)

Please respect the following rules on Lake Selent:

  1. It is only allowed to use sailing boats, rowing boats or paddle boats on the lake in the designated areas (see map).
  2. You may only take your boat on the water after paying the fee at the Selent/Schlesen Office in Selent.
  3. Boats may only be launched at authorised points.
  4. Surfing is not allowed everywhere on the lake (see map, surfing is allowed in Fargau, Grabensee and Mohltörp (Selent swimming area)).
  5. Inflatable dinghies and similar boats with no hard hull do not require permission. Such boats must remain close to the swimming area, however.
